Getting to the villa from Corfu Airport
Corfu Airport sits unusually close to the island’s capital, which makes arriving here refreshingly simple. The villa is about 15 minutes north of the terminal. Here is what to expect, whichever way you travel.
How far is the villa from the airport?
Corfu International Airport, Ioannis Kapodistrias (airport code CFU), lies just south of Corfu Town — one of the shortest airport-to-centre distances of any Greek island. Olga’s Luxury Villa is in Kontrakia, on the hillside above the coast north of the town, roughly 15 minutes’ drive from the terminal in normal traffic.
The route skirts Corfu Town and then follows the coast road north towards Kontokali and Gouvia, before turning inland and climbing to the villa. In peak summer, traffic around the town can add ten or fifteen minutes, particularly in the late afternoon.
Hiring a car
We recommend hiring a car, and collecting it at the airport is by far the easiest option. The villa sits on a hillside, and while there is a bus stop about 100 metres away, a car turns the whole island into an easy day trip rather than a planning exercise. Beaches, the Old Town, the west coast and the mountain villages all become straightforward.
Book well ahead for July and August — Corfu’s hire fleet is finite and high season stretches it. A small car is genuinely an advantage here: some of the roads near the villa and in the older villages are narrow, and parking in Corfu Town is much easier in something compact.
If you are visiting from outside the EU, check before you travel whether your licence needs to be accompanied by an International Driving Permit. Requirements depend on the country that issued your licence, and it is the sort of thing that is trivial to arrange at home and impossible to fix at the rental desk.
Taxis and transfers
Taxis wait outside the arrivals hall and the journey to the villa is short. Agree the fare before you set off, or confirm the meter is running — standard practice anywhere, and worth a moment at the end of a flight.

Arriving by bus
Corfu has two bus networks: the blue urban buses serving Corfu Town and the nearer suburbs, and the green long-distance buses that reach the rest of the island. Between them they cover the coast road through Kontokali and Gouvia, and there is a stop roughly 100 metres from the villa.
It is a viable way to get into town for a day without moving the car, and a genuinely pleasant ride along the coast. For luggage on arrival day, though — and for reaching beaches on your own schedule — a car or taxi will serve you better. Routes and timetables shift between summer and winter, so check current times locally rather than relying on anything published months in advance.
Arrival times and the drive up
Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00. If you are landing late, message us in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you — late arrivals are common on Corfu and are rarely a problem when we know they are coming.
The final approach climbs away from the coast road. It is a normal surfaced route and nothing to be nervous about, but it is narrow in places and worth taking slowly, especially after dark on your first evening. The reward is the view: the reason the villa sits where it does is the outlook over Gouvia Marina, the Ionian Sea and Corfu Town below.
Once you arrive there is private parking on site, free of charge, so the car has somewhere to live for the week.
